Don’t Forget Your Memory June 22, 2007

Memory can be damaged not just by a blow to the head, but also by neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, by injuries such as strokes, and very importantly – by improper diet. There is an enormous amount of evidence that brain function, memory and health are closely tied to our diet. We’ve recently found that our diets can make us more susceptible to crippling neurodegenerative diseases (memory loss), such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and vascular dementia. Our diet can alter our behavior, producing positive effects such as creativity and clear thinking, or negative effects such as anxiety or confusion. Diets rich in vegetables and omega-3 fats, improve brain function and have been shown to improve memory, IQ, and general behavior; and at the same time, they eliminate depression. Your memory may very well depend soley on the quality of your diet! Learn more from Dr. Blaylock about preserving your memory and the function of our brain.

Cholesterol Complications June 22, 2007

Many people have been perscribed to take cholesterol or statin drugs after theircholesterol test – very few of them have been informed about the real danger of these drugs. First off, it is important to always know who paid for the research and whether the principal author of your Doctors favorite source of info, has a financial conflict of interest. Independent papers are always superior.

Let me get your feet wet;
50 percent of all strokes and heart attacks have absolutely nothing to do
with elevated cholesterol levels and this has been kept from the public eye and from physicians’ medical education. But if you visit your doctor and have even slightly elevated cholesterol, he is quick to fill out a prescription for a cholesterol or statin drug such as Lipitor™, Mevacor™, Pravachol™ and Zocor™. If you watch one of those Lipitor commercials, you’ll think that you’ll be taking a walk down the red carpet at a Hollywood premiere or still be diving into pools at 70 if you take Lipitor, so even if you don’t need a statin, you may beg your doctor to write that prescription.

What the public is not told is that the cholesterol or statin drugs are associated with major complications and side effects. These include depletion of the body’s essential energy molecule coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which can lead to congestive heart failure, extreme muscle weakness, neurological disorders and even death. All cholesterol or statin drugs have been associated with causing or promoting cancer in experimental animals. This is especially important since millions of Americans have been advised to take these cholesterol drugs for the rest of their lives. It will take 20 years before the connection between the statins and a dramatic rise in cancer deaths becomes widely acknowledged — too late for many people! Metal Mouth June 22, 2007

Mercury is listed as one of the top six most poisonous metals on earth, with known human toxicity occurring at doses producing urine levels of 5 ug/L, or five millionths of one gram. Consider that a nickel weighs about 5 grams.

Take a wild guess what’s been in vaccines and amalgam dental fillings for years….toxic mercury!

The primary source of human contamination is right there in your mouth — dental fillings composed of an amalgam of various metals, almost 50% of which is the metallic form of mercury. Second, until recently, were vaccines. Third is the contamination of fish by coal-burning plants and the run-off of pesticides and herbicides from farmlands into lakes and streams, and the natural pollution of the seas from the sea floor. Because mercury is fat-soluble, it accumulates in the brain (60% fat) and other fat-containing tissue. Once in the brain, all forms (organic and vapor) are converted to the ionic form, which reacts with a number of important structures and chemicals in that vital organ.

Mercury has been linked with the rise in autism, alzheimer’s, lou gherig’s disease and even heart failure. Be sure to ask your doctor for a test to see how much mercury is in your system and for ways to avoid further contamination.

People have always feared the word cancer from coming out of their doctor’s mouth and most believe it just snuck up on them without warning. Many lethal forms of the disease take shape during youth and lie dormant, developing for 10 to 40 years before they are finally diagnosed. Its a dreaded diagnosis, but it may be more preventable than we think.Studies  are beginning to show chronic inflammation breeds certain cancers, and many scientists agree that specific fruits and vegetables contain nutrients that can slash your cancer risk! Food studies indicate that “eating five servings of fruits and vegetables daily reduced cancer incidence by 50%. For some cancers, the reduction was 75%.” Conversely, those deficient in vital nutrients increase their risk by anywhere from 200 to 1,600%! There threat of pesticides in your food and certain “bad” fats can also fuel a bodies cancer development. Look into cancer prevention and protect your family!

Are You Potentially Blind? June 15, 2007

An astonishing 33 million Americans will lose their eyesight this year due to cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (ARMD). Eyes have been called many things throughout time, sometimes based more on romance than reality. But from a practical standpoint, sight is crucial to the way you make sense of your world. In fact, your vision is a classic example of the 80/20 principle…..Even though you have five separate senses, 80% of the information you take in from the world is visual. Cataracts are due to a loss of elasticity in the lens of your eye, which particularly begins to creep up on you after the age of 50. Gradually, the lens (and your vision) becomes cloudy. Forget driving, golfing, reading, even watching TV clearly.

And macular degeneration is especially debilitating, because it affects the most important part of your eyesight — the central sharp vision portion of your retina. The specialized nerve cells in the macula begin dying off, causing everything in the center of your vision to become blurred. Studies even link macular degeneration to a higher incidence of heart attacks and strokes… and if you’re taking cholesterol-lowering drugs, new findings indicate you may be more at risk for cataracts. There is no treatment for the blindness caused by progressive macular degeneration. Fortunately, you can reduce your risk of diminishing vision, eye surgery…and even blindness.

Attacking Heart Attacks June 15, 2007

Each year, more than a million people in the U.S. have a heart attack, about half of them die. Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S.  Each year, over 700,000 people in the U.S. suffer strokes, and sadly, stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death in this country; it causes more serious long-term disabilities than any other disease. These are the stats from the National Institutes of Health!

Unfortunantly, most people will end up becoming part of these statistics unless we start seriously questioning mainstream medicine and money hungry drug companies.

For instance, we’ve been told for years that the primary cause of heart disease is an elevated level of cholesterol, due to poor eating habits and hereditary factors. We’ve been told to quit eating eggs, to start using polyunsaturated vegetable oils, to eat less fat, and to change over to soy products. And, of course, if all else fails, there’s the option of popping those cholesterol-lowering statin drugs.

People should be educated on what’s really going on with their health. Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor some hard questions. Dr. Blaylock has some great info on healthy ways to start preventing a heart attack. As always, do your research!

Vaccination Devastation June 15, 2007

Vaccines have “conquered” disease, right?   Wrong!

vaccineMost people may have heard of few concerns when it comes to vaccines, but many have not adequately weighed the consequences. It is extremely important to really drill your doctor about the long term effects of taking vaccines. Growing evidence suggests that improved public health measures and nutrition — not vaccines — have led to a decline in infectious disease. It seems, not only are vaccines not responsible for the decrease in disease, but they actually cause health problems. Vaccinations have been linked to issues such as seizures, altered brain development, loss of brain cell connections, Lou Gehrig’s disease and even Alzheimer’s.

There are alternative and less risky ways to prevent your family from disease and sickness. The number one thing to keep in mind is diet and exercise – keeping your immune system in tip top condition. Learn more about the dangers of vaccines.

FatI posted earlier on the benefits of a diet rich with Omega-3, but in all honesty, no one component is going to slim down America. We’re fat. In fact most of us are beyond a little chunky; obesity is the #1 epidemic concern for the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization! Quite literally – there are entire countries pleading with the W.H.O. for food drops and we can’t keep the refrigerator door shut! The epidemic is ridiculous and needs to be more of a concern for just about everyone in this nation.

Obesity:

  • Increases your risk of type-2 diabetes by 300%
  • Increases your risk of high cholesterol by 200%
  • Increases your risk of heart disease by 200%
  • Increases your risk of arthritis by 200%
  • Increases your risk of high blood pressure by 200%

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg… How about your increased risk of amputations, strokes, kidney failure and blindness?

Today, in California alone, a shocking 30% of the states kids are classified as obese. In fact, the average teenage boy in the U.S. eats 109 pounds of sugar each year — that’s crazy!!!

So…do your part, get up, move around and avoid eating food you’re not even hungry for!

Daily Dose of Fat June 14, 2007

SalmonHere’s little secret your doctor probably never told you: a simple fish oil could be the key ingredient to a long, happy life. Omega-3.

The benefits of including Omega-3 into your diet are similar to infinity x’s 100, or at least close if you’re exaggerating, but it is very good for you. This miracle fat might not only prevent heart attacks and help you avoid a stroke — it could also protect you from depression and other brain disorders. Certain dietary fats can affect your brain chemistry and even bi-polar disorder has been linked to low levels of specific dietary fats…and can be treated by simple nutritional correction.

It’s no surprise that the diet of so many Americans today could use a major readjustment. What may surprise you is how much these bad habits are affecting the health and increase of disease as well!

Mountains of evidence clearly show that special fats known as Omega-3 Fatty Acids (or N-3 fats) greatly enhance the health of the brain, as well as virtually every cell in the body. Omega-3 fats are a group of polyunsaturated fats commonly found in plants, fish, algae and flaxseed. These
polyunsaturated fats are the “good guys,” while trans fatty acids (the partially hydrogenated fats found in vegetable oils) and omega-6 fats are the “bad guys.” One study found that consuming more Omega-3 fats actually boosted the brain’s levels of depression fighting serotonin and made brain cell membranes more effective, causing them to work more like young, healthy brain cells. Learn more about the benefits of Omega-3 and be sure to get your daily dose. Get to know Omega-3 and take your health hostage!
