Awsome post, I am so interested in all the connections between memory and diet, and memory and exercise. It seems like extra motivation to keep living a healthy lifestyle. I recently came across a cool resource for how to maintain memory as long as possible. Its called the Brain Fitness Channel, and it is run by a company called Posit Science. the website is bfc.positscience.com
It has some fun tests, links to studies and information about how to maintain memory.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new blog!

You've started out with a really important topic. It is the one aspect of diet that people have to turn around 180 degrees from what has been "taught" for the last 30 years or so.

Good fats (of which Omega-3 is the major one) are needed for Health. They are especially beneficial in aiding those who already have weight problems as well as auto-immune disease, neurological issues, inflammation and heart disease..

Omega-3s are found in WILD cold water fish (not farmed!) like salmon, cod ,halibut, herring, mackerel and in vegetarian forms in hemp seed oil and flaxseed oil (never cook with either of these oils --- just use them in salad dressings), walnuts, romaine lettuce, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, whole soybeans and soybean sprouts, macadamia and Brazil nuts, baked winter squash, strawberries, green beans, purslane and oregano.

If you are taking blood thinning medications or blood pressure medicines, consult with your physician to find out an appropriate level of supplementation for you.

For those who want to take fish oil capsules, make sure they are molecularly distilled. It should say that on the label.

I hope this helps.

Best to all --- Em
